Digs and Storms

Deep flags, the digs that bring them up, and the storm that clears the flags nobody started.

About 1 signal in 12 is too deep to dig on the spot. If there is room, the dad plants a red flag there instead. Tap a flag to start digging it: that takes real time, and the deeper the flag, the better what is down there. Your spade decides which flags you can dig, how fast, and how many can wait at once.

Storms

Every 6 hours a storm sweeps each place and clears every flag nobody has started digging. A dig already running is safe. That is the reason to check in: start your digs before the storm. The book's Digs chapter shows when the next one comes, and in its last 15 minutes, while you have flags waiting, a red countdown chip shows under the buttons at the top right.
